Taking the leap and choosing to trust myself.
New beginnings are often an emotional minefield.
Awkward, because most things are unexpected, but exciting because of all the new possibilities that await!
At this point in my life, I’ve written hundreds of “first” blog posts introducing myself to the internet. But if you’re reading this, chances are, you haven’t actually met me yet, so hi! My name is Beatriz Hernandez and I’m a bright-eyed 20-something looking to bring some good into the world. For me, this has always meant expressing myself creatively—whether it’s through my writing, photography, or acting.
Ever since I could remember, I’ve been fascinated by the way that stories have been able to shape the way I experience the world. It could be as simple as the way my brain gets caught in a constant loop of Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl every time someone says the word “banana,” to the tears I’ve cried feeling seen in the character of Betty Suarez in Ugly Betty (or any America Ferrera character really).
Choosing to finally embrace my identity as an artist has somehow been both the easiest and hardest thing I’ve ever done. Easy because there’s literally nothing else I could ever imagine loving as much as I love creating, but hard because of the way it has meant giving up the stability I’ve always craved in my life—at least for now. Still, I know the regret I’d feel over never trying and letting my fear of failure continue to rule my life would hurt so much more than any rejection ever would.
Taking the leap and choosing to trust myself and my decisions is terrifying, but here I am once again introducing myself to the internet in hopes of reaching people out there like me who want to live their lives fully and authentically.
If this sounds like you, then hi, I invite you to follow along my journey diving into my career as a writer and actor. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to from me in the future, and I’ll talk to you soon. :)
Much love,
Beatriz 🐝
P.S. As always, if you’d like to work together you can view my portfolio and contact me here or across any of my social media pages.
